- We contact you as a new customer and time the reply.

What AI assistants look at before they recommend a business
AI assistants do not pick businesses at random. When someone asks who to hire, the assistant searches the web, reads what it finds, and names the businesses it can describe with confidence. If the facts about you are thin or contradict each other, it names someone else. These are the things it reads.
The same name, phone and address everywhere
Your website, Google Business Profile, Bing Places, Facebook and every directory you appear in should match. One old phone number is enough to make an assistant unsure you are the same business, or that you are still open.
A site that says plainly what you do and where
One page for each service, in plain words, with the towns or area you serve written out. Assistants quote text. A homepage that only says "quality you can trust" gives them nothing to quote.
Recent reviews
Reviews show that you are active and what customers think of you. A profile whose newest review is two years old looks like a business that may have closed.
Mentions on other sites
A local news story, a chamber of commerce listing, a supplier's page, a podcast. Other sites describing you in their own words is how an assistant confirms you are real.
Pages search engines can reach
ChatGPT's web search draws on outside search providers, Bing among them. Google's AI Overviews draw on Google's own index. If your pages are not indexed, or your site blocks the crawlers these tools use, they cannot see you.
Structured data
Schema markup states your name, address, phone, hours and services in a form machines read without guessing. It will not get you recommended by itself. It removes doubt.
Check what AI says about your business today
You can run this check yourself. Use a browser that is not signed in to your business accounts, and write down what you see.
- 01Ask ChatGPT, Google and one other AI assistant: "Who should I hire for [your service] in [your town]?" Note whether your business is named, and who is named instead.
- 02Ask each one about you by name: "What do you know about [business name] in [your town]?" Check the phone number, address, hours, service area and services against what is true today.
- 03Search your business name on Google and on Bing. If your website does not come up for its own name, the assistants that rely on those search engines will struggle to find it too.
- 04Compare your name, phone and address on your website, Google Business Profile, Bing Places, Facebook and every directory you are listed in. Make them match.
- 05Read your homepage as a stranger would. If you cannot tell within a few seconds what the business does and which area it serves, an assistant cannot either.
- 06Check the date of your newest review on each profile, and compare it with the businesses that were named in step 1.
- 07Open yoursite.com/robots.txt. If it says "Disallow: /" for all user agents, or blocks OAI-SearchBot or Bingbot, those tools cannot read your pages.
Write down three things: whether you were named, which facts were wrong, and who was named instead. That list is where the work starts.
Who should I hire for [your service] in [your town]?
Here are a few businesses people in your area mention:
1. A competitor with dozens of recent reviews
2. A competitor whose site lists each service and town
3. A competitor listed the same way everywhere
Your business: not mentioned.

What you control
You decide what your listings say, how plainly your site explains what you do and where, how often you ask customers for reviews, and whether other local sites know about you. Keep those clear, the same everywhere and up to date, and an assistant has a reason to name you.
Most of the self-check fixes are yours to make. If the audit shows the work is bigger than a few fixes, our SEO and AI visibility service does it for you.
Questions about AI visibility
Usually because it cannot describe you with confidence. The common causes are a name, phone or address that differs between listings, a website that does not say plainly what you do and where, few or old reviews, little mention of you on other sites, or pages that search engines have not indexed. The self-check on this page shows which ones apply to you.
Make the facts about your business easy to find and the same everywhere. Match your listings, write one clear page for each service with your area named, keep new reviews coming, get mentioned on other local sites, and make sure search engines, Bing included, can index your pages. There is no form to submit.

Answer engine optimization (AEO, sometimes called GEO) is the ongoing work of getting a business named in AI answers. This audit comes first. It shows where you stand today and what to fix first, so you do not pay for work you do not need.
No. The assistant decides which businesses it names, and that can change from one question to the next. Be wary of anyone who promises a spot. What you can do is make the facts about your business clear, consistent and current, which gives an assistant a reason to name you.
